Discover West Loop Real Estate

West Loop real estate mostly falls into three categories. At the high end, you'll find detached single-family homes, generally with three bedrooms. These homes are known for their very high ceilings, 4,000-plus square foot floor plans, and detached two-car garages. Since these houses are selling at or above $1.3 million, you can expect them to have every luxury, including spacious master suites, basement storage space, and large kitchens with marble countertops. They're perfect for entertaining guests or engaging in the life of a West Loop foodie.

You'll find West Loop condos for sale at a wide range of prices, from luxury five-bedroom penthouse suits in new developments to artsy lofts in former warehouses. Loft condos are West Loop's specialty, so if you dream of brick walls and concrete beams framing an open-plan home, you'll find one along the major streets of West Loop. If you're looking for something more cutting edge, there are plenty of new condo developments, some of which you can invest in before they're even built.

The other major kind of West Loop home is the attached single, usually selling in the $300,000 to $600,000 range and offering two bedrooms, a large kitchen, and a balcony. These houses are classic Chicago, lining West Monroe and several other major West Loop streets. If you want to be close to the action, an attached single is the way to go.

Your Life in West Loop

West Loop has always had culture, with its proximity to Little Italy and Greektown, but the last few years have seen a burgeoning of great restaurants and bars along Randolph Street, like Au Cheval and City Winery. It's also the home of the monthly Randolph Street Market, where you can find all manner of vintage items for sale. Food and culture are the number one reason to move to West Loop.

But it's more than just hip diners and open-air markets. West Loop offers every convenience, like a Whole Foods Market, a Mariano's, and a Target for easy shopping day to day. The neighborhood is also on three major Chicago "L"-train lines: Blue, Green, and Pink. Between the "L" and several major bus routes, residents of West Loop have quick access to the rest of the city when they need it.

West Loop is also developing a reputation as a great place to start a family, perhaps because of the excellent Skinner West School District and public parks like Mary Bartelme. With the huge number of young people moving here, it's certain that the next generation of Chicagoans will be raised well in West Loop.
